One Myanmar
Documenting the lives, struggles, and resilience of Myanmar’s people.
About One Myanmar
One Myanmar documents the real lives of people across Myanmar — their struggles, their resilience, and their determination to be heard.
Through honest storytelling, we preserve personal experiences that might otherwise go unseen. Our stories explore how conflict, displacement, censorship, economic hardship, and the loss of basic freedoms affect ordinary people from different ethnic backgrounds.
But One Myanmar is not only a record of suffering. It is a record of courage, dignity, and human agency. We listen first, allowing people to share their experiences in their own voices without speaking for them or reducing them to victims.
By documenting these stories, we hope to deepen understanding, protect human dignity, and remind the world that behind every crisis are real people whose lives and voices matter.
Why it matters
The people facing the greatest danger rarely become visible. Their safety often depends on remaining quiet, which means their experiences can go undocumented and their struggles unnoticed.
By preserving and sharing these stories, One Myanmar helps the world understand what Burmese people are actually facing, from surveillance and censorship to inflation, restricted banking, and the inability to safely communicate or move value across borders.
Awareness is only the beginning. These stories can connect trusted partners, builders, educators, and funders with the communities that need them. Together, we can expand access to practical freedom tools, including secure communication, privacy preserving technology, open source software, and Bitcoin.
These tools cannot end a war or remove a dictatorship. But they can give people greater control over their identity, information, money, and future. Our responsibility is to listen first, understand what people truly need, and help keep pathways to freedom open.
