One Myanmar

Bringing young people from different ethnic backgrounds together through fun videos.

Myanmar is home to over 135 ethnic groups that have been divided by conflict, mistrust, and decades of war. One Myanmar was created to help change that — one video at a time.

By bringing young people from different ethnic backgrounds together to create comedy, music, dance, and storytelling content, we’re building real friendships and showing that unity is possible.

No politics. Just young people choosing to create something positive, side by side.

About One Myanmar

One Myanmar is a youth-led project that brings together young people from different ethnic backgrounds to create fun, positive videos.

Myanmar is home to over 135 ethnic groups. For generations, these communities have been divided by war, mistrust, and broken promises. One Myanmar uses comedy, music, dance, and storytelling to break down those walls in a natural and enjoyable way.

By creating content side-by-side — Karen, Shan, Kachin, Bamar, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and others — we’re building real friendships and proving that unity is possible.

This is not about politics. It’s simply young people choosing to create something good together.

Why it matters

For over 70 years, Myanmar has suffered from deep ethnic divisions. Since independence, the central government, dominated by the Bamar majority, has repeatedly broken promises of equality and autonomy to the country’s many ethnic minorities.

This has led to one of the world’s longest-running civil wars. Different groups have different languages, religions, and histories, and many still carry deep mistrust toward each other and the central government.

Even among the ethnic groups themselves, there is often tension and competition.

One Myanmar exists to change this from the ground up. Instead of waiting for politicians to solve these problems, we’re bringing young people from different ethnic backgrounds together to create something fun and positive.

When Karen, Shan, Kachin, Bamar, Chin and other young people laugh together, dance together, and create together, real friendships are formed, and that’s where real change begins.

How it works

Young people from different ethnic groups film short videos on their phones and send them to our team. Our editors then post the best videos on our official One Myanmar channels on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

Every video features creators from different backgrounds working together, whether they’re doing comedy skits, dancing, trying each other’s food, or sharing funny stories from their culture.

We pay contributors for every video they send in, and we give them credit so they can grow their own following too.

Our goal is simple: create great content while showing that real friendship and unity across ethnic lines is possible.
